Mindfullness at Mealtime - February 29, 2012
- The New York Times recently reported on research into mindful
eating, a Buddhist practice that involves paying attention to
the whole process and every element (smell, taste, sensations)
of eating a meal while doing it slowly. It appears that this
is a better way to learn to control one's over-eating than just
trying to exercise willpower.
Tip - Make meditation a part of your whole day.
You might think you don;t have time to meditate at work or while
running errands during the day, but you can do 60-second mini-meditations.
Just stop in a quiet corner occasionally and take several deep
breaths through your nose while letting the tensions and your
thoughts fall away.
